Summary
Language is an integral part of one’s daily life. Not only is language production and comprehension crucial for communicating to the outer world, but also can play an essential role in understanding the cognitive processes of individuals. Previous research has found that a cognitive decline can be found in the ageing population, particularly affecting their language processes. This can affect a variety of language processes such as sentence production, resulting in the formation of shorter sentences and less language use. This project employs structural priming methodologies to assess the effects of ageing on sentence production in language and to determine the mechanism that may underly this decline over age.
